CW’s new morning show SouthFlorida.com/Live visited the rehearsal studios where the cast of the musical Celia: The Life & Music of Celia Cruz has been preparing for its return engagement at the Adrienne Arsht Center beginning June 2. Broadcasting live throughout the morning of May 27, SouthFlorida.com/Live went behind the scenes during rehearsals, including an interview with Anissa Gathers, whose acclaimed performance as Celia is sensational,, and the show’s musical director Isidro Infante, the veteran musician who performed with Celia herself. Anissa shared a few words of advice with potential showgoers: “Come ready to sing, to cry, to dance!”

In addition to an impromptu duet by Gathers and Infante, viewers were treated to a sneak peek of the magnificent costumes for which Celia Cruz was widely recognized, including the famous Cuban flag gown.

The show’s dancers, who hail from New York, Las Vegas, and Miami, also showed off some of the new choreography being incorporated into this production. SouthFlorida.com/Live ‘s host – Eugene Rodriguez – also got into the action, taking a quick dance lesson live on the air!” (Disclaimer: No TV personalities or Celia dancers were harmed during the taping of this segment.)
