On October 6, Miami’s most influential arts patrons and philanthropists gathered at the home of Marvin Ross Friedman. Mr. Friedman and Adrienne bon Haes hosted a festive cocktail reception in anticipation of Arts Odyssey: A Collaboration, an unprecedented effort by Miami’s leading arts organizations – Adrienne Arsht Center, Florida Grand Opera, Miami City Ballet and New World Symphony, America’s Orchestral Academy – who have joined forces to fundraise as a team through an overnight cruise aboard the Seabourn Odyssey November 13-14.
Adrienne Arsht Center President John Richard, Florida Grand Opera President Bob Heuer, New World Symphony CEO Howard Herring and Miami City Ballet Founding Artistic Director/CEO Edward Villella chatted with the guests about the remarkable opportunity and the joy of seeing the community supporting this event. Among the 60 notable guests were Ricky Arriola, Chairman of the Adrienne Arsht Center’s board, Dr. Sanford L. Ziff, Judy Drucker, Linda Villella, Rob and Ana-Marie Barlick, Trish and Dan Bell, Kirk Landon and Pamela Garrison, Dennis and Debra Scholl and Maria Alonso with Bank of America. During the evening, guests mingled while enjoying magnums of champagne and hors d’oeuvres at the stunning Coral Gables home. It was the perfect prelude to the grand event, scheduled to take place aboard the Seabourn Odyssey, the newest member of The Yachts of Seabourn fleet.
Funds raised from this unique initiative will support artistic programming, education and community outreach, apprenticeship and fellowship programs, and the continued enrichment of South Florida’s leading performing arts institutions – four areas of priority for Miami-based Carnival Corporation, which has been an ardent sponsor of the region’s arts community for decades.
